DTwenty Craft Night, Oct. 9th

Come help and make things to be sold at the Yule Craft Bazaar with us!
So maybe you feel interested in all this and want to give to the community, but don't feel you have enough appropriate things... or maybe you just love crafts! We've got you covered either way. The Yule Craft Bazaar committee is hosting a craft night at the local game store of Normandy Park, DTwenty Games.
As our very first craft night yet, it will be open to anyone who wishes to create and have fun. The event will be free of charge, and all items will be donated to the Yule Craft Bazaar to sell. Supplies will be provided ,but there are only 16 spaces. Show up early, or email us and reserve a spot now! We encourage you to bring business cards, so when we sell your creations, others will know who made what!
The date for DTwenty Craft Night is October 9th, Sunday. From 2 to 10, artists and art enthusiasts will be welcome to join us in creating pillow crafts and felt goodies!
10/9/2011, 2PM to 10PM

Great! So what's this all about?

The Yule Craft Bazaar is sort of a midwinter-themed swapmeet for local artists to sell their goods to the community and each other. With a simple cash and trade only policy, the YCB is open to artists of all ages and talents. Things you've made or modified by hand, from little crayon drawings and friendship bracelets to sewn dresses and photographs, any form of art is welcome. Vintage items and craft goodies are always a delight!

Our goal is to support growth in the local art community. Whether you're an artist who wants to take a step further in your trade, or you're simply looking to see if other people enjoy your creations, this is the place to do it. Have you ever felt you've want to become more involved in your community, and in the arts? Now is your chance! : ) Get to know other artists and people like you at the Bazaar, or start even sooner by helping with the Yule Craft Bazaar itself!
If you have any questions or want some more information, feel free to send your thoughts to yulecraftbazaar@gmail.com . Think you might want to sell your works of art at the swapmeet? Great! Just email us some info about you and your goods, and we'll keep you posted.

What is yule?

Yule, traditionally the shortest day of the year in Scandinavia and Germany, is the height of the Wild Ride. The midwinter festival is a time of merrymaking in the midst of the Wild Hunt. Odin, ruler of the universe, rides his eight-legged horse Sleipnir, and leads a band of undead warriors from Valhalla. The god and his warriors would hunt goblins, riding through the moonlit sky on the longest night of the year. People below would share Yule cakes and many gifts, and children where known to leave out their socks stuffed with hay, as food for Sleipnir. Many of the pagan ideas of Yule were adopted and altered by the Christians. Odin and eight-legged Sleipnir were replaced with Saint Nicholas and his reindeer, and the tradition of giving gifts still remains to this day.
